For: Founders whose company has stalled even though everyone is working harder
What's capping my company's growth?
My answer, as of Oct 5, 2026
Usually one constraint, and it's often the founder. Most stalled companies have a single bottleneck, such as decisions that all route through one person, a sales process only the founder can run, or a structure nobody has rebuilt since the company was ten people. Fix that one and the rest moves.

Where the line actually sits
- One
Constraint that matters at a time
Working on everything at once spreads effort across problems that aren't the one holding you back.
- The founder
The most common bottleneck
When every decision waits on you, the company can only grow as fast as your calendar.
- Structure
What tools can't fix
A tool bolted onto a broken structure is still a broken structure.
What changed in the last year
- The constraint moves. Once you fix one, a new one appears somewhere else, so the one you fixed last year probably isn't the one holding you back now.
What most founders get wrong
“We need more people.”
Hiring more people in front of a constraint that isn't headcount doesn't help. Neither does spending on marketing when the constraint is delivery.
“Let's improve everything a bit.”
Fixing everything a little instead of one thing completely is how companies stay stuck.
When I'd tell you the opposite
- Sometimes the constraint isn't internal. If demand itself has dropped, rebuilding the team won't fix it.

- How do I stop being the bottleneck?
- Track for two weeks which decisions wait for you, block time to clear them, write down the rules behind your common decisions so others can make them, then hire or promote someone to own the area that keeps landing on your desk.
