It’s a night for reflection. A man I’ve never met inspired me so much that I can’t bring myself to sleep. You stop and think about how much he did for the world, and why he is so inspiring to those of us who followed his career. Why is it that tonight, less than 24 hours after his death, the entire world has stopped to reflect on his life?
It’s not just the people into technology, it’s everyone who has ever used technology. That’s pretty much the entire civilized world. I think what inspires people the most is seeing potential realized, and then reflecting on their own potential still unrealized. Steve Jobs wasn’t just potential energy, he was kinetic. He put his ideas in motion.
Lots of people had ideas, and somehow he managed to keep the right people around him long enough to do what most people only dream about. It’s like that line from the movie Rudy, “having dreams is what makes life bearable”. It’s those very same dreams that begin to stir in people when a great person like Steve Jobs touches our lives.
I’m just going to say he passed on, instead of passed away. He passed on his ideals, his vision for the future, and most of all the ability to dream big.
