The Importance of Having an SEO Playground

Lot’s of people think they know SEO, but in the end they are just parrots. They can repeat what they hear, but how is that different from every other mindless blob in the universe? It sounds harsh but where is the competitive advantage? If you ever desire to be an expert in a field, you’re going to have to have some ideas, theories, and practices that other people might not know about. That all comes from having an SEO playground, an area where you can test out crazy theories for validity. You have to posses an almost childlike curiosity to reach the next level of search engine optimization. It’s the coolest feeling in the world to have an idea, try it out, and watch traffic explode using a tactic that nobody else in the world knows about.

Your SEO playground is a place that can get banned, it’s a place where you can spam to hades and back just to see that breaking point at which Google will ban you. It’s a place you stuff full of duplicate content and keywords so you can actually feel educated talking about “duplicate content”. You will never outrun your competition waiting for somebody else to publish a theory on their blog, and then rushing to implement what the rest of the SEO world already knows…

Well said Mr. Brown… In SEO land you had better find those to work with that have tested the *wrong* thing whenever possible. Otherwise, you won’t know where Google’s line is actually drawn.

Very true. It’s just like in the world of competitive sports, “come strong” or don’t come at all…
